Looks for Men's Wedding Bands
A ring like this cobalt hammered style is available at Roman Jewelers in Bridgewater & Flemington 5,000 years ago, ancient Egyptians were exchanging wedding rings. They believed that the vein in the fourth finger lead directly to the heart, thus making a perfectly romantic place for a wedding ring. The tradition was passed down from generation to generation, from culture to culture, to the extent that what once was known as the “forth finger,” is now widely known as the “ring finger.” Lovers around the world still feel the romantic connection of the wedding band’s location on the ring finger as a direct artery to the heart. Today, the tradition continues, of course. But, if your man hasn't shopped rings recently, or if you are in the market to purchase a men's wedding band soon. Here are a few tips and looks that are popular: The classic Gold and White Gold Domed Men's Wedding Bands are still popular and practical, truly for the "classic" guy. Fortunately, plain and simple aren't the only styles available in men's rings. There are a wide variety of patterns that are popular twists on the classic band. Two-toned rings are crafted from two different metals that work together to create a number of patterns. Woven and wave are two of the most popular. Milgrain is a tiny beaded pattern along the edges of the band that's another popular pattern most commonly found on a domed ring. These variations can also be found on a flat ring, which tends to be a bit more "modern" looking. If your man is into a bit more bling, gemstones or diamond wedding bands are available and often add a bit of significance--maybe her birthstone, a loved one's birthstone, or a family tradition. This style can be purchased finished or created by one of Roman Jewelers custom jewelry designers. Outside of gold is a wealth of other men's wedding band options are that are truly becoming more and more popular--like Sterling Silver. In addition, alternative metals like Platinum, Palladium, Tungsten and cobalt bands are big choices due mostly to cost and also durability and comfort. Platinum would be a more expensive metal, but is extremely durable and a preference for many men who "like the feel" of the ring. Palladium is a precious metal that's known as platinum's country cousin. In the 1930s, platinum was found to be useful to our military and hard to come by, so it was proclaimed a strategic metal, making it unavailable for use in jewelry. Palladium was discovered to share many of platinum's characteristics and became popular with jewelers, especially because of its lower price tag. If your groom is a science enthusiast, a tungsten wedding band may appeal to his inner nerd. Tungsten is a highly durable, scratch-resistant metal that's inexpensive to boot. Its dark gray color is an interesting alternative to silver and gold, but it weighs more than silver, which could make it uncomfortable for men who don't usually wear jewelry. Cobalt Chrome wedding bands are also a wise alternative. They feature many unique properties and characteristics, the most obvious being a premium bright white color! Cobalt Chrome wedding bands are much whiter than tungsten and titanium wedding bands and are often compared to platinum in appearance. Since the bright white color isn’t just a plating, Cobalt Chrome wedding bands will stay white forever. Cobalt Chrome wedding bands are less scratch-resistant than tungsten wedding bands, but more scratch-resistant than titanium wedding bands and precious metal wedding bands. Whichever style, maybe it is time for your guy to get an updated/new look. Or if you are shopping, stop in our store during July's Wedding Band Promo, July 16 - 18 when you can purchase her ring and get his for free. Restrictions apply.

Hoop Earrings, like these choices from John Hardy, are a great Summer pick. They've been worn for thousands of years, and truly have never gone out of style, but magazines and models all over the world are showing them off for Summer 2015.... The hoop earring is truly a classic. You know your Mother has worn them. What about Grandma? Good chance. In fact, women have been wearing them for thousands of years. Silver hoops and diamond hoops are big favorites of Roman Jewelers shoppers in Central NJ. Hoops are also exciting because they are available in so many different sizes. A small hoop look great on a lady with small features and short hair. A longer hoop, works well with either short or long hair. The size of the hoop depends on your personal style, but it can be dressed up or down at any length. Happy Birthday to those born in April Who is lucky enough to be born in April? If it is you, your birthstone is the diamond. Diamonds symbolize so much: beauty, strength, resilience, purity, and a whole lot of sparkle. Read on to learn more. A Symbol Of Innocence…Though diamonds are revered among minerals for their superior strength and durability, they also are associated with innocence. The diamond’s super-hard structure makes it virtually incorruptible. Its dual strength and purity make it the perfect adornment when worn as jewelry. More Than Wedding Jewelry…In the United States, the diamond is typically associated with the engagement ring. It symbolizes the commitment of matrimony. But the diamond is also a key player in the most stunning jewelry in the world. Its unique structure paired with skilled cutting techniques allow it to refract light in a way that is truly mesmerizing. The April girl is lucky to have the diamond as her signature gem! Religious Significance. The use of diamonds in jewelry and engagement rings is relatively recent compared to its use in religious rituals and customs. In India, diamonds have been regarded as religious icons for over 3,000 years. In the Bible the diamond represented one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, and according to the book of Exodus, was used to adorn the garments of the priests serving in the temple. In the book of Jeremiah the diamond was used as a tool and as an instrument of judgment. The World of Colored Diamonds. And remember, not all diamonds are white! While diamond hues are often paler than a colored gemstone, their rarity gives them a sought-after status among jewelry buyers. But, there are black diamonds, chocolate diamonds and the coveted yellow or pink diamonds, most precious of all.
The magnificent, regal, birthstone of March: Aquamarine
The Queen's Aquamarine Necklace When Queen Elizabeth II was coronated , the president and people of Brazil presented her with a necklace and matching pendant earrings that glistened with aquamarines...this started her aquamarine jewelry collection. Today, this is one of the world's most famous, featuring March's official birthstone. Legend states that it took the Brazilians one full year to collect the nine perfectly matched square-cut aquamarines and larger aquamarine drop pendant that made up the platinum necklace gifted to the Queen in 1953. Her Majesty loved the gift so much that she commissioned the royal jeweler Garrard to create a matching tiara in 1957. The tiara’s three large aquamarines were each detachable and could double as brooches. The large central stone of the tiara was originally the pendant that dangled from the necklace gift of 1953. One year later, the Brazilian government further delighted the British monarch with an add-on gift that included a lavish bracelet featuring seven large aquamarines set in a cluster of diamonds, and a square aquamarine brooch accented with diamonds. The tiara underwent a transformation in 1971 when it was redesigned to include four aquamarine-adorned scroll ornaments that were given to the Queen by the Governor of São Paulo in 1968. According to web site that reports on the Queen’s style, Elizabeth II has worn the aquamarine parure — both the full ensemble and elements of it — “quite often.” In September, Elizabeth II will become the longest reigning monarch in British history, surpassing the record held by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria. And the Oscar for Biggest Jewelry Trend goes to the Statement Necklace!
Who wore the statement necklace best at the Oscars? Photo: JIC
Last night's Oscars, as usual, provided lots of jewelry looks! Statement necklaces took home the win for the best and biggest jewelry trend at the star-studded event. Who wore it best?
Statement necklaces with an added dash of bold color ruled the red carpet at last nights Oscars. Gemstone and pearl necklaces were stand outs, and and the looks varied from classic to more edgy. Who do you think work it best?
Focus star Margot Robbie accented her black ensemble with a vintage zipper necklace featuring diamonds and sapphires set in 18K yellow gold (and the zipper is fully functional!)
Actress Scarlett Johansson clearly wasn't afraid of being too matchy-matchy with her all green look. She paired a dramatic emerald necklace with her emerald gown that was only further accentuated by her Piaget emerald, tourmaline, aquamarine and diamond ear cuff set.
How to Get Away with Murder Star Viola Davis chose a beautiful pearl and diamond bib statement necklace to add a sophisticated touch to her pale pink Zac Posen gown.
Actress Cate Blanchett let her bright bib statement necklace do all the talking. The turquoise and diamond piece popped against her black ensemble, making it one of the most standout jewels of the night.
We're looking forward to seeing statement necklaces remain as one of the biggest trends on the red carpet!

Get the Golden Globe recap, along with the "look" from Roman Jewelers
You can get the look, too! Laura Prepon stuns in Simon G. Jewelry at the 2015 Golden Globes Awards.
The Jewelry Industry and stylists were tweeting all the jewels and styles from last night's Golden Globes, for those of us that needed more closeups. If you couldn't follow it all, read on to find out about the highlights-diamond fringe earrings and necklaces, diamond statement necklaces, platinum and Simon G.!!!
New Zealand pop star Lorde may have blinded you last night with a massive 100 cts. t.w. platinum and diamond Cleopatra-style bib necklace, as well as seven platinum and colorless diamond rings, but for us in Central Jersey it was Orange Is the New Black’s Laura Prepon who we were most excited about. Why? Because she wore Simon G! Our favorite Designer. All of Prepon's looks are available right now at Roman Jewelers. That was exciting!
Besides that, there was plenty more to see and admire. St. Vincent’s Naomi Watts earned high compliments for the Bulgari diamond-studded snake necklace that seductively slithered into position around her neck, and though may have been criticized for her gown, but she scored points for her bib-style diamond necklace from Simon G. Good Wife nominee Julianna Marguiles, meanwhile, also wore a bib-style diamond necklace, though hers—like Watts’—was from Bulgari.
Diamond fringe earrings, however, were the "It" accessory of the night on celebs like Amal Alamuddin Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, nominee Amy Adams, Kate Beckinsale, nominee Jessica Chastain, and Sienna Miller for proof.
Of course, exceptions from the all-white looks were present—and appreciated. Best Actress in a comedy nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michelle Monaghan, nominated for her work in True Detective both wore lots of color and comedienne Leslie Mann wore stunning emerald slice earrings with boulder opal and diamonds. Nominee Emily Blunt's turquoise and diamond chandelier earrings garnered lots of praise, as did Lupita Nyong’o’s amethyst, peridot, and diamond drops.
Yellow gold had a quiet showing this year--Jennifer Aniston wore black onyx and yellow gold chandelier earrings and Kelly Osbourne had a warm yellow gold jewelry look, too! Next year's Golden Globes will see more yellow--we're certain.
