When Andy and Christine were set up on a blind date back in September of 2012 it was less than ideal timing for the pair. Christine had just moved to New Jersey where she was starting a new job. Andy, on the other hand, had just moved out-of-state to Connecticut for a three-year medical residency. Thankfully, they both still accepted the set-up and enjoyed their first date at a local Somerville pizzeria. The pair hit it off immediately and that first date ended up being the very last ‘first’ date for them both.
John and Sarah first met when Sarah walked into John’s Motorcycle Dealership on Main Street in Lebanon back in December of 2013. Unbeknownst to Sarah, John told his brother and staff that day he was determined to find out who she was when she left, but he didn’t know her name or anything about her.
Later that spring, every evening after work, Sarah would walk her dogs down Main Street as John would be closing up his shop. Day after day, for several months, they would catch each other’s eye but never speak. Over time they would wave to one another, then say hello, and eventually have small talk in the street. It became obvious to everyone else that they were interested in one another – each always looking for one another, but being too shy to make a move toward actually going on a date. Finally in July of 2014, John asked Sarah out – she said yes – and they were virtually inseparable from then on.
Almost immediately after they began dating John knew Sarah was the one. The two welcomed their beautiful daughter, Madeline, into the world on December 8th, 2015, and John knew that he wanted to incorporate her into the proposal. So when the couple decided to have a nice quiet Christmas Eve at home with their newborn, John knew it would be the perfect moment. That evening, John put the ring in the next clean diaper in the changing area. Of course, Madeline decided that she didn’t need a diaper change for hours – keeping John anxiously waiting! Finally, the moment of truth was upon them. Sarah got up to change Madeline and saw the beautiful ring as she opened the diaper.
John proposed to Sarah with a very special ring. It was a family heirloom, one of his late mother’s prized pieces of jewelry. John knew it would have meant a lot for his mother to know it was going to someone like Sarah. Roman Jewelers repaired the ring after John & Sarah became engaged and replaced the prongs holding the large center diamond. John and Sarah’s wedding bands were both purchased at Roman Jewelers in Bridgewater. John’s wedding band is a custom made white and rose gold Simon G band. Sarah’s band is a 18k white gold, .5 carat three-sided diamond band.
Sarah had John’s wedding band engraved with “Ti cercerr per sempre 3.19.16” which is Italian for ‘I will always look for you’, in reference to how the couple first met. Back in those early days when Sarah would run home from work to walk the dogs in hopes to see John, and John would stand outside his shop waiting for Sarah to pass by.
What a truly romantic #GreatEngagement story! Congratulations, Sarah and John!
In today’s fast-paced world it’s rare to sit down for a coffee with someone for more than fifteen minutes, let alone six whole hours! That’s the amount of time recently engaged couple Heather and RJ spent with one another during their first coffee date three and a half years ago. After meeting, these New Jersey lovebirds immediately hit it off during what they both thought would just be a quick light-hearted meeting.
Eight months prior to their proposal, RJ began planning the big day, incorporating Heather’s Christmas gift in the planning. For Christmas 2015, his present to Heather was a series of hand painted watercolor paintings he had done of different dates that the two of them would go on over the next year. Some of the dates were things Heather knew about ahead of time but RJ kept a few secret from her.
One mystery date, in the month of August, was a scavenger hunt that RJ planned with another couple, boys vs. girls. It started at the location of their first date and led Heather on a hunt with clues along the way. The last clue brought Heather to a park that the two had visited on Mother’s Day with their families. That clue held the treasure of a gold ‘love’ charm by Helen Ficolra, one of Heather’s favorite designers. After she opened the charm she was so excited about the gift she accidentally dropped in under the gazebo she was standing in! Luckily, she was able to retrieve it and added the charm to her necklace. Once the necklace was on Heather’s friend blindfolded her and led her down a garden path.
At the end of the path RJ waited, and when Heather’s blindfold was removed he proposed to her with a beautiful center round cut diamond in a vintage setting. The timeless ring look perfectly captured Heather’s personality. Heather will be using her great grandmother’s wedding ring as her wedding ring, which will go beautifully with the engagement ring.
RJ and Heather will be getting married at the gorgeous Laurita Winery in New Egypt, NJ on September 9, 2017.
Congrats Heather and RJ on your #GreatEngagement!
I am Dominican blooded but was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. My family moved and lived there, from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, for 8 years. I have lived in Bridgewater, NJ ever since. Rachel was born in Delaware and is from Chadds Ford, PA. And this is our story….
Both lifelong New Jersey residents, Johnny and Shannon had quite the history with one another leading up to their engagement.
It all started 22 years ago when Johnny and Shannon both attended the same church and school in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Before the two became an item, Johnny was best friends with one of Shannon’s brothers. Despite spending a lot of time with Shannon’s brother in their house growing up, Shannon and Johnny never really thought much of one another.
However, that changed one summer when they all decided to go on a fishing trip with Shannon’s uncle. It was then that Shannon and Johnny first hit it off. When that summer came to an end, over 2 years ago, Johnny brought Shannon back to the beach where they went fishing and asked her to be his girlfriend.
Flash forward to the proposal. Johnny knew he wanted to ask Shannon to marry him on the same beach where it all started. The only issue was that it was mid-November and not exactly easy to nonchalantly suggest a beach day. In order to avoid any suspicion, he made some subtle hints that eventually led Shannon to suggest a trip to the beach herself.
When the day came the two began walking on the beach and Shannon immediately brought up how Johnny had asked her out right there two years prior. While Johnny wasn’t planning popping the question just then, he knew it was the right moment.
He asked Shannon if she was surprised when he asked her out and then proceeded to get on one knee and surprise her again at that very same special spot. Johnny presented Shannon with a Hearts on Fire round cut diamond that he had purchased at Roman Jewelers with the help of Shannon’s sister and brother.
Shannon and Johnny are getting married on August 5th, 2016, at Millington Baptist Church, where they met those 22 years ago!
Congrats, Shannon and Johnny, on your #GreatEngagement!
Even though Mike and Laura have been together for nearly nine years, Mike knew it was still critical that he plan a very special proposal for Laura.
While both attending class at Montclair State University, Tom and Diana struck up a conversation that would be the first of many that led to their unforgettable engagement. Here’s #GreatEngagement story in Tom’s own words…
