FABERGE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM SPONSORED BY ROMAN JEWELERS

(January 8, 2009  Flemington, NJ)   Roman Jewelers in Flemington is adding a new presentation to the educational program that the company offers to local public and private schools.  The subject of the new presentation will be the history of Fabergé eggs, including a workshop during which students will have a chance to decorate wooden eggs in the style of Fabergé.

Between 1885 and 1916, the House of Fabergé in St. Petersburg became the largest jewelry firm in all of Russia and produced Imperial Easter Eggs for the last two Russian Czars. The Imperial Eggs, made with precious metals and jewels, are considered to be the finest and most famous achievement of the company led by Peter Carl Fabergé.

Because Roman and Sophie Shor, owners of Roman Jewelers, originally came to the United States from Russia, the tradition of the Fabergé eggs was a part of their own educational experience in Russian public schools.  They wanted to share this experience with students here.

For the past several years, Roman Jewelers has presented jewelry related programs in elementary, middle and high schools throughout central New Jersey.  They have also participated in school science fairs and enrichment programs, as well as programs for gifted and talented children.  The Flemington store also provides instruction to Brownie and Girl Scout troops.

There is no charge to the schools for the presentation of these programs.  Most can be adapted to almost any age group.

For more information regarding this program or to schedule a presentation, please call 908-237-1223.

Roman Jewelers is a family owned and operated store with locations in Flemington and in Bridgewater Commons.  Roman Jewelers specializes in custom jewelry design, fine jewelry including diamond and bridal jewelry, and offers a wide selection of Swiss watches.

FIREMAN’S CARNIVAL AT ROMAN JEWELERS NETS $4,000 FOR FLEMINGTON STATION #49

(August 18, 2008 Flemington, NJ) On Saturday, August 16, 2008, Roman Jewelers hosted a carnival fundraiser for the Flemington Fire Department at the Roman Jewelers Renaissance Plaza, Flemington location, where the parking lot was transformed into fairgrounds for the day.

Several hundred people attended to enjoy the music, inflatables, face painting, balloon animals as well as food provided by Matt’s Red Rooster Grill, Shop Rite and Baker’s Treat (all of Flemington). The Hunterdon Art Museum led bead making craft lessons, and several local vendors had booths to display their businesses. Inspiring Bodies hosted a hula hoop contest that rivaled the Olympics for enthusiasm.

One of the great attractions of the day was a display of fire fighting equipment by the Flemington Fire Department. Four fire trucks, including the famous ‘Old Betsy’, were on site throughout the day. Children and adults had a rare chance to explore the trucks, take pictures and talk to the firemen one on one about fire safety. The raising of the 100-foot-plus ladder on the ladder truck provided an exciting moment that captured the attention of everyone, children and adults alike.

The event raised $4,000 for the Flemington Fire Department. Roman Jewelers would like to thank the following local businesses and organizations who supported this event:
