VALENTINE’S DAY SHOPPING TIPS

Jewelry Store Helps with Valentine’s Day Shopping: Tips on Choosing Jewelry (February 2, 2007 Flemington, NJ)  Valentine’s Day is upon us, which means romance is in the air.  Many men are planning to buy their significant other a special piece of jewelry, but are not sure where to start.  Roman Jewelers in Flemington is taking the guesswork out of it by offering tips on how to pick the perfect piece of jewelry for someone special.

Sophie Shor, Vice President of Roman Jewelers, says, “Women always enjoy receiving jewelry, especially on the most romantic day of all – Valentine’s Day.  We find that many men are intimidated heading into a jewelry store.  These ideas and tips may help them to select a gift that will be treasured for a lifetime.”

Shor offers five tips for selecting a piece of jewelry:

Make sure the jewelry suits her lifestyle – If she leads an active life, has young children or spends a great deal of time outdoors, you may want to choose something with a simple design.  If she dresses casually, you can give her a piece that fits her style. Or, if she dresses up frequently, she may prefer a piece of jewelry that is more formal.

Know what she likes – It helps to know if she has a preference for colored stones, diamonds or metal jewelry.

Add to current set – If she already has a piece or two from one set of jewelry, you can add to that set.  For example, if she already has a matching bracelet and necklace, you could give her the earrings.

Start a new set – Another option is to give her a necklace, bracelet or earrings that are part of a new set which you can add to later.

Match jewelry to her uniqueness – Use the color of her hair or skin to guide you in selecting flattering designs and colors.  Her stature is important when choosing chain lengths and stone sizes.

ROMAN JEWELERS HELPS LOCAL GIRL SCOUTS WORK ON JEWELRY BADGES

January 22, 2007 For members of Girl Scout Troop 1099 of the Girl Scouts of Rolling Hills Council, it was a lesson on gemstones, how jewelry is made and what it takes to design a piece of jewelry.  For associates of Roman Jewelers in Flemington, it was another way to show young people their craft.  Seven fifth grade girl scouts from Clinton Township visited the Flemington store recently in an effort to earn their jewelry badge.

Dawn Desmond, one of the store managers at Roman Jewelers, led the demonstration.  “Many people go into a jewelry store, see the beautiful pieces and have no idea of the intricate process that goes into making one design.  We enjoy showing young people exactly what it takes.  It also gives them a true feel for what we do and hopefully peaks their interest in a potential future career.”

Annie Roskoski, member of Girl Scout Troop 1099, was intrigued, “I really enjoyed learning about diamonds and how they are made.  I heard all about the many different gemstones and got to see how they get their smooth surfaces.  It is so much more than I ever realized.”

Terese Acocella, Troop Leader, believes the presentation will help the girls in the future, “This gives the girls a practical application to the different skills they would need to be a jeweler.  It shows them about this occupation in an interesting and fun way.  I think many of them will walk away and look at their own jewelry with a new appreciation.”

The program is open to any girl scout/boy scout troops.  If interested, contact Sophie Shor at 908-284-0256.

WINNER ANNOUNCED FOR $1,000 SHOPPING SPREE

2007–A Bridgewater woman won a $1,000 Shopping Spree at Roman Jewelers.   She learned about Roman Jewelers $1,000 shopping spree contest from her sister, who is a regular customer of the Flemington and Bridgewater stores.  So,  Diane Mehrmann of Bridgewater decided to take a chance.  She went online to www.romanjewelers.com and entered.  Little did she know, she would be the winner.

Mehrmann’s name was selected at random by one of the store’s jewelry vendors.

Mehrmann couldn’t believe it when she received the email announcing that she had won, “My sister and her husband bought their wedding bands at Roman Jewelers and have always gone to the store for special occasions.  She told me about the contest, so I entered.  I was so surprised when I won.  Now, I’m going to split the $1,000 with her because if it wasn’t for my sister, I would’ve never known about the contest.”

Mehrmann says she’ll head to the Flemington store for her shopping spree, “I have something in mind that I’d like to get, but I’m going to browse a little bit before I decide for sure.”

BENEFIT FOR VISITING HEALTH SUPPORT SERVICES

Roman Jewelers Raises $3,500 for Hunterdon Medical Center:  Money to Go Toward Visiting Health Support Services (December 19,  2006 Flemington, NJ)  — It was a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays for Hunterdon Medical Center.  Roman Jewelers in Flemington has donated $3,500 to the Medical Center’s Visiting Health Support Services.  The money was raised during a remote radio broadcast at the Flemington store featuring New York City radio personality Joan Hamburg.

Sophie Shor, Vice President of Roman Jewelers says, “Just by selling the $25 tickets and raffling off a Cartier watch, we were able to raise the funds.  We enjoy giving back to the community in this way.  When the hospital benefits, everyone benefits and we are so happy to help in this effort.”

Joan Grady, Director of Hunterdon Regional Community Health explains the money is desperately needed to help cover the cost of home health aides.  “As people get older, they often prefer to stay at home.  Providing quality health care inside their own home allows them to do just that.  It not only gives them a piece of mind, but quality of life and you can’t put a price on that.”

The Medical Center will continue taking donations for Visiting Health Support Services through December 31, 2006.  Members of the public can mail checks to Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ  08822.  An anonymous donor has agreed to match any money raised up to $50,000, so this donation of $3,500 actually equates to $7,000 donated to Visiting Health Support Services.

TURNING OLD TREASURES INTO MEANINGFUL GIFTS

Restoring Old Family Jewels for the Holidays: Flemington Jewelry Store Turning Old Treaasures into Meaningful Gifts (November 29, 2006 Flemington, NJ) Finding the perfect gift this holiday season may be no further than a peak into your jewelry box.  Maybe you have an old heirloom piece of jewelry that was passed down from a relative that is awaiting new life.  Roman Jewelers in Flemington is turning sentimental pieces from the past into beautiful, meaningful treasures through custom redesign.

Jess Gebauer, a Bench Jeweler at Roman Jewelers, lost her grandmother when she was in the second grade.  When she was given her engagement ring, she knew she wanted to wear it on that special day when her ‘now-husband’ asked her to marry him.  “The ring meant so much to me.  I wore the original for quite some time, but then decided I wanted to make it my own and still have the grandmother I loved so much to be a part of it.”

She removed the original stones and custom designed a new setting to make the ring her own.  “Everytime I look at my ring, it makes me feel so good because I turned it into something that I love so much, and yet, I know that my grandmother is such a part of it.  It is so sentimental and meaningful to me.”

Gebauer wasn’t finished.  She then took the original setting and reset it with a sapphire in the middle and two diamonds on the side and gave it to her mother for her 51st birthday.  “I was able to give this ring that meant so much to all of us two new lives.  Now, my mom can pass hers on to her grandchildren and I can do the same.”

Many more people are opting to do the same.  Recently widowed, Sandy Heimberg of Branchburg had her engagement ring redesigned, “My ring meant so much to me because of all the memories I had with my husband Jeff, but I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do with it once I lost him. I sat with a designer who completely changed its look, but kept the original stone.  It’s not only beautiful, but it allows me to have my husband with me every day.”

Heimberg also had a tie tack that was her husband’s grandfather’s turned into a unique pendant which she now wears around her neck.  “I know if Jeff were here to see these beautiful pieces of jewelry, he would be so proud because they are not only amazing to look at, but they are so meaningful.”

SOPHIE SHOR SHOWS HER PROFESSION TO LOCAL STUDENTS

Flemington Jeweler Looking for a for a “Diamond in the Rough’:  Sophie Shor Shows Her Profession to Local Students (November 3, 2006 Flemington, NJ ) A diamond is the most valuable gem on earth and yet, it is made out of the same mineral as the graphite in a pencil…carbon.  This interesting fact along with several others were offered for fifth grade students recently at a Science Festival organized by the Holland Brook School in Readington.  The presentation, entitled “Why is Ruby Red?” was part of an educational program kicked off by Roman Jewelers.

Sophie Shor, Vice President of Roman Jewelers, presented the information to the class. “I feel that it is so important for students to be exposed to areas of science that they normally do not see.  Not only did they learn about where diamonds come from and the chemical composition of a diamond.  It was invigorating to watch their eyes light up as I showed them how light travels through a diamond.  They couldn’t wait to hear more about gems, minerals, light and colors.”

Marsha Sepesi, Enrichment Specialist at the Holland Brook School explains, “The idea of the Science Festival is to show the students how science relates to everyday life.  After watching the presentation by Sophie, they were able to see that diamonds are so much more than jewelry.”

The program offered by Roman Jewelers is an effort to provide students with the opportunity to see first-hand the professions available in the jewelry business.  It can be adapted for students in elementary school, middle school and high school.  Anyone interested in having the program presented in their school can contact Sophie Shor at 908-782-8240.

HELPING HEALING HEARTS GALA

Flemington Jeweler Healing Hearts with “Circle of Life”:  Roman Jewelers Designs Special Piece for Domestic Violence Victim Fundraiser (October 2, 2006 Flemington, NJ) For victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, it is a symbol of hope.  For Sophie Shor of Roman Jewelers in Flemington, it is the desire to heal a heart and reach out to someone in need.  Shor has designed a special piece of jewelry for Women’s Crisis Services of Hunterdon County.  The ‘Diamond Circle of Life’ will be raffled off on November 3, 2006 at the agency’s Helping Hands Healing Hearts Gala at The Palace in Somerset.

Shor wanted the piece to have very special meaning.  She explains, “It is a ‘Circle of Life’ made out of diamonds with a single tanzanite in the center.  Tanzanite is the color of hope, which also is the color of Women’s Crisis Services.  I wanted the piece to empower and invigorate the person wearing it, while also acting as a symbol of strength.”

The evening is a celebration of the dedication of staff and volunteers, who for more than 27 years, have supported, advocated for and served with compassion the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Judy Dilts, Chairwoman of the Helping Hands Healing Hearts Gala says people do not realize the growing need for such services in the affluent Hunterdon County.  “Last year alone, our center received 6,084 phone calls from women in need.  At a time when the state is cutting back on such programs, it is so special to us that Sophie, and others like her, have recognized just how vital these services are.”

THE WATCH THAT IMPROVES TEMPERAMENT DEBUTS

he Watch That “Improves Temperament” Debuts in Flemington:  Roman Jewelers Only One in Hunterdon County to Carry Philip Stein Teslar® (August 25, 2006  Flemington, NJ)  Those who wear it claim to have more restful sleep, less tension along with improved concentration and energy levels.  It’s the Philip Stein Teslar® “feel good” watch and Roman Jewelers in Flemington is one of a few stores in Central Jersey to carry the unique line.

Gina McLaughlin, Watch Manager at Roman Jewelers, says she has seen the results first-hand in many of her clients.  She explains, “One of my customers bought a Teslar® watch here at Roman Jewelers and said within a week his sleep habits improved dramatically.  Instead of getting up multiple times a night, he was only waking up twice.  Another client said it improved her aches and pains.”

Invented in 1986, the Teslar® technology was designed to emit a unique signal that strengthens the body’s own natural electromagnetic energy field and helps reinforce the body’s energy field to better resist the potential negative effects of external, low-energy electromagnetic fields given off by cell phone systems, computers and many other electronic devices.  As a result, the “Teslar Effect,” wearers have experienced deeper, more restful sleep, more calm, less tension, improved concentration and increased energy levels.

The Philip Stein Teslar® watch also has been featured in InStyle, Vogue, National Jeweler and was featured twice in the past three years as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things.
