Why a Custom Engagement Ring?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sketch of a custom engagement ringThere are so many things to consider when it comes to buying an engagement ring. Between the diamond, setting, band, and other details, there are countless options. And sometimes, the right combination of these options just can’t be found.

Custom engagement rings are usually for those who can’t find what they want in a display case or those who just want to create something original. The custom ring-making process allows a customer to work side-by-side with a skilled jewelry team to design and create a jewelry piece that has everything they are looking for.

First, one of our designers will meet with the clients to discuss what they are looking for in their custom engagement ring. This designer will then sketch a draft of the potential ring, and edit it according to the customer’s feedback and critique. Once the drawing is finalized, it is sent to a digital model maker, who translates the design into a 3-D, computerized version. From there, we create a wax model to be approved by the customer, cast the ring, and set it with diamonds to create the finished product.

Not only does custom jewelry design allow you to get exactly what you want from a ring stylistically, but it also gives an engagement ring greater meaning and purpose. Custom jewelry design lets you bring your own story and personality to your engagement ring, to create something that represents you rather than the company it was purchased from. The magic of a custom engagement ring is that it is as unique as the relationship it commemorates, something that cannot be said for a regular store-bought ring.

How to Buy a Designer Watch

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]tag_watch_350x350The best designer watches are all about luxury and sophistication. Because of quality, attention to detail, and precision with which the best designer watches are made, they last a lifetime and usually are passed to the next generation.

In the world of watches, complexity and price go hand in hand. So the more you are willing to pay for a watch, the more choices you’ll have. And believe us, there is an overwhelming number of choices when it comes to some of the best watches, from around the world.

When you are ready to treat yourself,  (a designer watches is the ultimate treat) there are a few considerations. First, decide on your budget. Then think about if you will wear the watch for special occasions, work, or, perhaps, sports activities. Think of your style; do you prefer a high-tech gadget or a traditional elegant watch? Quartz or mechanical? Digital or analog or, maybe, a combination of the two?

One thing for certain; when you buy one of the best designer watches, you are buying the highest quality materials, craftsmanship, precision, and, with it, prestige.

If budget is a strong consideration, but you still want one of the best designer watches, consider a quartz watch. As a matter of fact, the majority of watches being manufactured today are quartz. Quartz technology allows for extremely accurate measure of time, as the quartz crystal within a watch is powered by the watch’s battery. Quartz watches have a pretty simple mechanism compared to a mechanical watch.

A mechanical watch movement is a piece of art in itself. Most of the world’s best designer watches are mechanical watches. Mechanical watches are also known as windup watches. These watches keep accurate time by using a spring mechanism and are battery free. In these watches, the energy is stored in a spring. That spring can be either wound up automatically or by hand. From the spring, the energy is transferred to a series of gears, pins, wheels, pivots, and teeth. The mechanisms are complicated and it takes a long time to produce these watches, thus making them much more expensive compared to quartz watches.

Roman Jewelers is your source for the best designer watches, including many prestigious Swiss brands.

How Custom Jewelry is Made

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”647″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Sketch

The custom designed jewelry process begins with a sketch. However, before we even start sketching the piece for you, we would like to get know you, since the custom jewelry design is all about you! Whether you are interested in custom designed jewelry for an engagement ring or a wedding band, earrings or pendant, bracelet, or any other piece of jewelry, we will discuss the piece and give you ideas for the design. Then, we will sketch the piece for you and, don’t worry, we will keep sketching until we hear, “That is exactly what I had in mind!” After that, we can begin your custom jewelry design process.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”646″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Selecting Diamonds For Your Custom Designed Jewelry

Diamonds are quite often important parts of our customers’ custom jewelry designs.  Therefore, selecting and matching diamonds are important steps in the custom jewelry design process. We will educate you on the quality of the diamonds and will select diamonds to fit the design perfectly. We can also use diamonds or colored stones from the piece(s) of jewelry that you are planning to re-purpose. If there are not enough diamonds in the piece(s) you are re-purposing, we will carefully match additional diamonds to the ones in your existing pieces. That is what custom designed jewelry is all about; you have unlimited freedom, creativity, and flexibility to design the jewelry of your dreams!

Selecting diamonds for your custom designed jewelry can be a time-consuming. However, it is such an important step that we happily spend as much time as necessary to assure that we make the right selection. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”648″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Creating a Model

Depending on the design, we will either have our model maker create the model by carving it by hand from a block of wax, or we will create a model using a computerized methods of jewelry design called CAD. Before we proceed to the next step, you are always invited to the store to see and approve the wax model. Seeing a prototype of the piece that was transformed from a sketch into a wax model will give you a very good idea of what the finished piece will look like. And, it is always exciting to see the first three-dimensional version of your design!

Let’s take a look at how the model maker creates the piece in CAD.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”644″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]CAD Process

CAD is just one of the many steps that takes place in the custom designed jewelry process. CAD stands for Computer Aided Design. The CAD software allows a designer to create models and prototypes of one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry with a help of computer jewelry design software.

CAD is a program in which the creative process meets the technical knowledge required to design every piece of jewelry.

The CAD designer needs to envision the piece and bring it to life using the computer jewelry design software. It is fascinating to watch the CAD designer add every element of the design to the model on the computer screen. For example, if he is designing a custom engagement ring, you might first see the shank, and then a box for a center stone placed on top of the shank. Next, you would see stones being added to the shank. And on and on, until every element of your custom designed jewelry is transferred to the screen.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”710″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Rendering of Custom Designed Jewelry

Next, the piece has to be re-created as a three-dimensional model. Every element and space allotted for each stone has to be precise. It is this computerized model that will be cut out of wax later in the process, and so our designers are extremely meticulous!

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”645″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Casting and Finishing

Once the wax model is completed and approved by you, the wax is then cast in the metal of your choice: gold, platinum, or silver. We polish and set the diamonds into the setting, and thenyour beautiful piece is complete.

Now it can be enjoyed for generations to come![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

One day, you will be able to tell your children and grandchildren about how your custom made jewelry came to life–the visions and inspirations throughout the design process, and the love that led you to that special design. Bridal Jewelry for Your Wedding Day

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The day you have dreamed about all your life – your wedding day – is getting closer and closer. As a matter of fact, it is almost here, and you are ready! Your wedding invitations are sent out, your dress is carefully hung in the closet, and your new white shoes are neatly tucked away. Engagement ring shines brightly on your finger and the wedding band is just waiting to placed on your finger. You are ready, except for…your wedding jewelry!

We at Roman Jewelers understand the importance of wedding jewelry for the bride. As a matter of fact, we take wedding jewelry for brides very seriously. Usually, the bride spends many hours going through magazines and visiting bridal stores in search of a perfect wedding dress. A bride’s wedding jewelry is as important as the dress. Jewelry that the bride chooses for her wedding day can greatly enhance her dress or not do much at all!

When it comes to wedding jewelry for brides, we usually ask the bride to either bring her dress in or, at least, bring us detailed pictures of the dress. If the dress is pretty simple, the bride can choose jewelry with more stones and sparkle. If the dress already has lots of beads and sparkly embellishments, then we recommend jewelry that is more modest.

The first thing to decide on when it comes to wedding jewelry for brides is the metal of jewelry – white or yellow. For white color gowns, we recommend white gold or platinum. For off-white and ivory gowns, the yellow gold will match the creamy tones of the fabric much better.

But what is a bride to do if she does not like jewelry in either white or yellow metals? There is an alternative, and many brides choose to go with that alternative for their wedding jewelry – rose or pink gold. These colors go perfectly well with either a white or an ivory gown and make wedding jewelry for brides look special.

Wedding Jewelry for Brides: Less is More
Keep in mind that when deciding on wedding jewelry for brides, sometimes less is more. For example, if you are planning to wear your hair in an updo style and would like to compliment your hairstyle and your dress with long dramatic chandelier earrings, forgo the necklace. You can also complement the earrings with a thin chain, with or without a pendant.

Many brides select pearl jewelry for their wedding day. The jewelry can be as simple as pearl stud earrings and a single strand pearl necklace or as elaborate as a double or triple-strand necklace and pearl drop earrings.
The main thing when deciding on wedding jewelry for brides is to focus on your personal style. Think of the jewelry that you wear every day. Small or large? Modern or vintage? Simple and elegant? Perhaps, avant garde? Go with the style that you feel most comfortable with. You will be the center of attention regardless of the wedding jewelry that you decide to wear that day.

Oh, and one more thing. If you decide on a piece of jewelry to represent “something blue” on your wedding day, a beautiful blue topaz, aquamarine, or sapphire pendant would certainly complement your dress.
Enjoy your special day![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Birthstone Jewelry

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Brief History of Birthstones

Birthstones, gemstones assigned to each month, are an ancient tradition. They trace all the way back to the Breastplate of Aaron as described in the Book of Exodus. In 5th century A.D., a connection was made between the 12 stones in the Breastplate and the 12 signs of the zodiac, and it was believed that each of the gemstones had special powers associated with their corresponding astrological sign.  It was believed that wearing all twelve stones throughout the year and alternating them monthly had healing effects.

The concept of individuals wearing a gemstone corresponding to their birth month is a much more modern idea. Scholars trace this to 18th century Poland, with the arrival of Jewish gem traders to the region. The modern list of birthstones was not defined until as late as 1912, and was created here in the USA.

Modern birthstones

Today, we still wear some of the original twelve gems. Though there have been changes to exactly what makes up the list of birthstones, the significance of these stones has not diminished.  Wearing one’s birthstone is the ultimate form of self expression, and jewelry designers today are still inspired by the beauty of these twelve jewels. Birthstone jewelry also makes excellent, personalized gifts. Take a look at the list below to find the stone that corresponds to your birth month, or that of a loved one.

It is critical to understand the quality of the diamond you are buying.

Just last week, a young man came into our store looking for a diamond for an engagement ring. He was looking at two stones on the Internet. He had seen two stones online, both with the same color, clarity, and GIA certification as excellent cuts, yet there was a one thousand dollar price difference between them. He could not figure out why there was such a price difference between the two online vendors. That is exactly where diamond jewelry store specialists can help. There are many nuances that can influence the price of a diamonds with seemingly identical characteristics. At Roman Jewelers, we look at diamonds every day, so we know how to read the fine print in the diamond certificate and understand the difference in price.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Designer engagement rings and wedding bands are made by top branded designers. Each designer offers a unique feel and style. Designer engagement rings are often offered with a matching wedding band. Uniqueness, quality, and attention to every detail during the manufacturing process make designer engagement rings and weddings bands particularly special. Top designers also offer incomparable beauty that you cannot find anywhere else.

Roman Jewelers offers designer engagement rings and wedding bands from Tacori, Simon G., Gabriel, and our own bridal line, Romanza.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Romanza Designer Engagement Rings and Wedding bands

Romanza is Roman Jewelers’ exclusive line of designer engagement rings and wedding bands. The diamonds in Romanza rings are unmistakably more brilliant than in other bridal jewelry.

The Romanza bridal jewelry line is special because the pieces are manufactured using a technique called the die-struck process. Unlike casting, during the die-struck process, a sheet of precious metal (gold or platinum) is forged into a die under pressure. This produces a stronger, more durable metal than cast jewelry and allows for a higher polish. The combination of these elements creates an engagement ring or wedding band with diamond brilliance amplified in intensity.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”455″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Tacori Designer Engagement Rings and Wedding bands

We love Tacori engagement rings and wedding bands, especially because of their distinctive crescent design. Other manufacturing companies attempt to copy the design, but nobody can do what Tacori does. Tacori creates a beautifully distinguished brand of engagement rings and wedding bands that is easily recognizable and highly admired. What is an Anniversary Band?

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]

Diamond studded wedding band

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Just what is an “anniversary band“? Is it different from a wedding band?

In many ways, a wedding band and an anniversary band are similar types of jewelry. Both are given as a symbol of love and commitment on some major occasion. Additionally, anniversary bands and wedding bands generally look pretty similar, and can be worn in similar ways. Still, there are some major noteworthy differences between wedding bands and anniversary bands.

A wedding band is typically a plain precious metal band, without any stones or diamonds embedded into it. An anniversary band is a little more elaborate; these typically have some type or types of jewels in the band.

An anniversary wedding band is a perfect gift for any anniversary. Whether it is your first, tenth, or fiftieth, an anniversary ring is always appropriate.

The two types of bands also differ in the way they are worn. While wedding bands may solely be worn on the left ring finger, anniversary bands offer a little more variety in use. They may be worn on the left hand, alongside one’s wedding band and engagement ring. Or they may be worn solely with an engagement ring as a replacement for a wedding band. Additionally, anniversary bands can be worn on their own as a right-hand ring. Because anniversary bands are often wider-band rings, they look spectacular when worn by themselves.

Finally, wedding bands and anniversary bands differ in the occasion on which they are given. Wedding bands are, of course, given on one’s wedding day. As the name implies, anniversary bands are often given as gifts on an anniversary. However, they are by no means an “anniversary-only” piece; anniversary rings also make great birthday or holiday gifts.

There are so many styles to choose from when selecting an anniversary band. Each ring has a unique precious metal band, stone type, stone cut, stone setting, and overall design. Just like no two couples are alike, no two anniversary bands are exactly the same.

How to Select the Right Wedding Band

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Two diamond studded wedding bands

Selecting a wedding band that will complement your engagement ring perfectly is no easy task. Because engagement rings are such complex pieces on their own, finding a matching wedding band can be quite complicated.

Wedding bands come in a variety of different styles. Because of this, there are many different options to consider when choosing one. Do you want stones? If so, how many? And how should the stones be arranged? What type of stones should they be? If they’re diamonds, what shape/cut/clarity/color/carat weight should they be? These are just a few of many questions to consider when picking out a wedding band.

No matter what you ultimately choose, there is one golden rule to remember when choosing a wedding band: wedding bands and engagement rings must complement, rather than compete with, one another. This is a pretty general rule, so let’s take a closer look into what having a complementary wedding band and engagement ring really means.

The first thing to look for while matching a wedding band to an engagement ring is the contour or the shape of the shank of the engagement ring. It is especially important to pay attention to the contours if you’re looking for your engagement and wedding ring to sit flush, that is, fit together perfectly. Most engagement rings are made so that they can easily sit flush on a straight wedding band. However, sometimes this is not the case and a contoured or notched wedding band is necessary to fit together nicely with an engagement ring. If you prefer for your engagement ring and wedding band to sit together stacked, as many customers do, it is still important to consider the shape of both rings to ensure they sit together nicely.

The next, and perhaps most important, consideration in finding a complementary wedding band is how elaborate your engagement ring is. If your engagement ring is more discrete and simple in diamond size/amount, then a more elaborate, stone-studded wedding band might balance out the pairing nicely. Conversely, if your engagement ring is extremely complex, a simpler wedding band might be your best choice. Of course, if your wedding band and engagement ring both have diamonds, it is important that the diamonds in both are of the same quality.

The choice of precious metal and overall style of a wedding band is more open to personal preference. Some customers prefer plain gold wedding bands while others prefer platinum; certain people prefer extremely thin wedding bands, while others like theirs to be wider. No matter which style and metal you choose for your wedding band – and the options are numerous, it is important to keep the style of your engagement ring in mind. Our best advice is to choose the wedding band that will not steal attention from your engagement ring. Again, the most important goal is for these two rings to complement each other’s beauty and not compete with each other for attention.

What you Need to Know about Engagement Rings

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Three diamond engagement ring

An engagement ring is one of the most important pieces of jewelry that a woman will wear in her lifetime. Because of that, shopping for an engagement ring can be extremely difficult; just how are you supposed to pick a piece of jewelry to represent an eternal love? Luckily, there are certain helpful facts that make the task of shopping for an engagement ring seem much less daunting.

Let’s start with the diamond. Choosing a diamond is one of the hardest parts of choosing an engagement ring, because it requires the most consideration. One of the most common ways to evaluate the quality of a diamond is by looking at “the 4 C’s”: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. It’s important to note that, due to other factors, two diamonds graded equally along the 4 C’s are not necessarily equal in quality or value. Still, the 4 C’s are important to consider when generally determining what quality diamond you would like to purchase. Beyond the 4 C’s, you must consider what shape of diamond you’d like to choose. Diamonds come in different shapesround, princess, pear, and oval shapes, as well as many others. It is important to choose a diamond shape that not only reflects the style of the wearer, but also complements the ring’s setting and the wearer’s hand.

Beyond the diamond, you must choose a type of precious metal for the setting of the engagement ring. There are many options when it comes to precious metals, and they come in a variety of different colors and prices. The preference of the wearer and price of the precious metal are of importance in this selection. However, one should also consider choosing a metal that matches the skin tone of the wearer.

The type of setting, which is the method by which an engagement ring’s diamond is secured in the ring, is another component to consider when choosing an engagement ring. The most common type of ring setting is a prong setting in which a small, claw-like prongs grip the diamond to hold it in place. Other setting types include bezel, tension, pavé, halo, flush, and many others, each with its own unique look and attributes.

The most important thing to keep in mind when selecting an engagement ring is the woman who will be wearing it. Would your lady prefer a plain band or one studded with smaller jewels? Does she like more discrete or more extravagant jewelry pieces? Knowing and keeping the wearer’s preferences in mind will make the process of finding the right engagement ring much easier, and you’ll be sure to find her a ring she will love.
